In October 2017, I began my current position as the Head of the Education & Reference Department at the University of Colorado Strauss Health Sciences Library on the Anschutz Medical Campus. I supervise a fabulous team of five librarians, a bioinformationist, and three MLS graduate students, coordinating the reference, education, and searching activities of the department. Prior to this position, I was the library director at Red Rocks Community College in Lakewood, Colorado, and before that, I worked various jobs as a library-based web developer, including a long stint at the University of Colorado Denver’s downtown campus, at the Auraria Library.
Here’s the personal stuff: I’m married to David McHale, and we’re responsible for five carbon-based life forms, three of them two-legged and two of them four-legged. The humans are Jack, Molly, and Riley, and the Australian Shepherds are Annalee and Luke. We live in the southern ‘burbs of Denver.
Since we live in Colorado, we’re required by state law to love the outdoors. We ski, primarily at Keystone and Arapahoe Basin, largely due to the proximity of those resorts to my parents’ house. When it’s not winter, we can be found on bike paths and trails anywhere along the Front Range. If we’re inside, some faction of us is playing video games while the other crafts or sews, OR playing music on an assortment of bass clef musical instruments.
